The Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting on Coldharbour Lane in south London. This incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday. Officers describe the event as an act of indiscriminate violence. The emergency services were alerted to the firearm discharge at 1.14am.
Four people required hospital treatment after the attack. One man, aged 25, suffered life-threatening injuries. Three other victims, aged 21, 47, and 70, were also admitted. Their medical conditions are not considered to be life-changing or life-threatening by authorities.
Emergency response was rapid, with specialist crime officers arriving within minutes. They provided first aid alongside the London ambulance service. Two victims went to a major trauma centre. The others were taken to a local hospital with air ambulance support.
DCI Allam Bhangoo is leading the current investigation. He stated that police are working at pace to identify the suspects. No arrests have been made yet. Residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the Brixton area over the next few days.
Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any information. Those with footage or evidence can contact 101. Alternatively, people may provide information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
