- Carlo Tritta received a 28 month prison sentence for grooming a 14 year old girl.
- The offender used multiple apps to contact the victim and visited her home uninvited.
- Safety advocates and police warn about the predatory risks children face on gaming platforms.
Carlo Tritta, aged 19, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison. He targeted a 14 year old girl through the Roblox gaming platform. After the first contact, he moved their messages to Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Discord to continue highly sexualised conversations with her.
The offender possessed indecent images of the victim, including 25 categorized as category A. He also admitted to causing a child to watch a sexual act. These crimes took place between January and August 2025, leading to serious charges of child exploitation.
Tritta traveled from Eastleigh to Manchester to confront the girl. He entered her home through the back door and sent threatening letters. These actions left the victim scared of going downstairs at night and made her mother feel unsafe.
The defendant’s lawyer claimed Asperger syndrome and depressive disorder affected his understanding. However, the judge noted he was a high risk of causing harm to children. This led to an immediate custodial sentence rather than a suspended one.
The NSPCC stated that tech companies must prioritise child safety during the design process. Meanwhile, Roblox mentioned they now require age checks and use AI to detect grooming, though they admit that no system is perfect.
