The English national team is preparing to host a significant series of matches following their recent global success. A rematch of the 2025 World Cup final against Canada is confirmed for September. This upcoming clash serves as a high-profile highlight for the Red Roses as they return to domestic soil to face elite international competition.
In the previous world championship meeting at Twickenham, England secured a 33-13 victory to claim their third title. That historic event drew a massive crowd of more than 80,000 spectators to the stadium. Now, the team will bring international rugby to three different regions across the country to engage fans nationwide during the tournament window.
The schedule begins on 12 September with a game against Australia at CorpAcq Stadium. Following this, the world champions move to Sandy Park in Exeter on 19 September for the highly anticipated meeting with the Canadian squad. These fixtures are designed to test the depth and skill of the squad against the best teams in the world.
Events conclude with a prestigious fixture against New Zealand at Twickenham on 26 September. Facing the Black Ferns, who have won six World Cup titles, remains a premier event in the sport. Captain Megan Jones and teammate Amy Cokayne expressed excitement about playing such historic rivals in front of home supporters in the north west and London.
These matches are organized under the new WXV Global Series, which features the top 12 ranked nations worldwide. Participants include various European teams like France and Italy, alongside Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Outside of World Cup years, teams will participate in 9 to 16 Test matches to maintain consistent high-level competition for the athletes.
Before these autumn fixtures begin, the Red Roses must focus on defending their Women’s Six Nations crown. Their campaign starts on 11 April with a home match against Ireland. This will be the first appearance for the team since they were officially crowned world champions five months ago, marking a new chapter for the squad.
