A serious incident on the De Montfort University campus in Leicester triggered multiple road closures across the city center on Tuesday evening. The event unfolded on Oxford Street, prompting an immediate police investigation and widespread traffic disruptions throughout Wednesday morning.

Leicestershire police confirmed the incident occurred on Oxford Street but released no additional details about the nature of the event. They announced that road closures would remain in effect for several hours as authorities preserved the scene and conducted their investigation into what had transpired.

The university worked closely with law enforcement to respond to the situation. University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust warned patients of potential delays to appointments at Leicester Royal Infirmary due to traffic congestion surrounding the hospital. The trust advised attendees to allow additional time for travel and adhere to local diversions and police guidance.
