Timothée Chalamet claimed the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy, winning for his role in Marty Supreme. The 30-year-old actor defeated high-profile competitors including Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney at the ceremony. His victory represents a significant milestone in his career trajectory toward an Academy Award.

Despite DiCaprio’s loss in the acting category, One Battle After Another dominated the awards, securing four prizes total. The film won best musical or comedy film and best director. This strong showing positioned it as a major contender in the broader awards season ahead.

Irish performer Jessie Buckley earned best drama actress honors for her work in Hamnet, an adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel about William Shakespeare’s son. The film itself achieved an upset victory in the best drama film category. Director Chloe Zhao appeared shocked when the announcement was made, accepting the award and thanking the entire production community.

Additional film acting victories went to multiple performers across genres. Teyana Taylor won best supporting actress for One Battle After Another, using her acceptance speech to address young women of color. Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård took best supporting actor, Rose Byrne won best comedy actress, and Wagner Moura claimed best drama actor for The Secret Agent.

Television categories featured British actors receiving recognition from the Netflix series Adolescence. Owen Cooper, a 16-year-old from Warrington, won best TV supporting actor and spoke about remaining humble despite his rapid success. Seth Rogen won best TV comedy actor, while additional television winners included Jean Smart, Noah Wyle, and Michelle Williams across various series.

The Golden Globes maintain their unique distinction by honoring both film and television achievements, unlike the Academy Awards. The ceremony recognizes international cinema alongside domestic productions, with Brazilian political thriller The Secret Agent winning best international film. KPop Demon Hunters secured best animated film honors.

Chalamet reflected on his victory with gratitude, noting his father instilled appreciation in him. He acknowledged family members and his partner during his acceptance remarks. His first Golden Globe win after five previous nominations marks an important stepping stone as the industry moves toward the Oscars.
