A 14 year old boy from Blaenau Gwent has been charged with murder. The arrest followed the discovery of a body on 22 June in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina. The boy is white British and remains in police custody currently.
The deceased is believed to be a missing 14 year old named Lilly. She was last seen on High Street Blaina at 6.50pm on Saturday 20 June. Formal identification was being awaited by the Gwent police while the girl’s name was released for court proceedings.

Police cordoned off parts of Pilgrims Park near the A467 in Blaina. Local people left floral tributes by the scene. The suspect will appear at Newport magistrates court on Friday after being held by the authorities during this process.
Det Ch Insp Steven Thomas mentioned that «our thoughts are with the family and friends of Lilly at this difficult time». He noted that there was high interest in the case. He stressed that online comments could impact the ability to bring a criminal offender to justice.
Inquiries are still active and a police presence stays in the area. Scene examinations will continue at Duffryn Park where cordons are still up.
